Microsoft, will you ever learn

Dear Microsoft,

I have been eminently patient with you. How many emails have I sent to you that you have not answered? I sent you one online just yesterday.

I don’t really expect an answer from you any longer.

For a company who cannot answer emails, you can sure bug me with messages on my computer.

You persist in sending me updates. You FORCE me to accept your updates. You may very well have good intentions, but you don’t give me any other options like: Do not install update and do not bother me again.

I know I know Charles Fines once told me how to stop you from updating, but apparently it didn’t stick.

Limited to two forced choices, finally, in desperation, I do say, Okay, install the update.

And you do.

And that’s when the trouble really begins. You simply won’t leave me alone after that.

At first you appear like a nice guy because you politely ask me if I want to close down my computer Now (so the update will start working) or Later?

I thankfully press Later.

Then you keep popping up that same message every three minutes. Every three minutes. How dare you?

Microsoft, I want to close down my computer when I want to close it down. I close it down just about every night. I don’t want to close down more than that. And, frankly, I can wait 18 hours before I have your update that will likely cause me difficulties down the road anyway.

You must think I have nothing important to do. I am writing down Heavenletters,  for Heaven’s sakes! Do you think I really want you interrupting me every three minutes, forcing me to check the Later box again and again?

Can’t you listen? Can’t you hear a word I say? What are you thinking of, bothering me so much?  I suppose you are bothering everyone.

That makes you just a big bully.

You really cannot treat people this way. Please do not bother me anymore.

If you continue to bug me, Heaven Admin is going to show me how to use Linux, and then you’ll be sorry.

Sincerely,

Gloria

Ubuntu, is the flavor of Linux we’re moving to Senora. I made the leap in January, and now despite certain challenges (due to my advanced development requirements of the computer), I am smitten by the freedom of open source. We can add “Promotion of Open Source” as part of the Oneness Journey agenda!

Do you know that when I want to resize an image, all I do is right click the image and select resize? I plug a device into the computer and it is immediately working. I stick a DVD in and voila, it plays. Connection to the servers that host this site, Heavenletters and others? 1 click, a 9 letter command and I’m in. Did I mention that all of this is FREE software? I open the Microsoft Word documents you send me using Open Office. I browse with Firefox or Galeon and read email with Thunderbird. I listen to music on Songbird or Audacious. Even the names are fun. Ubuntu means something like the spirit of the people.

It’s more than just software. It’s a whole new way of community. Much respect to the Linux community, all the corporations who sponsor and support this way and especially to all the millions of folk all around the world helping each other, contributing and nurturing the Open Source Movement.

Open Source sounds like the new world that God talks about! Just giving gladly without strings. Oh, for freedom!

Did you read about the KARMA KITCHEN earlier? It goes by kinda the same principle.

And you do, Senor. All you give to us.

That’s exactly why I bought a Mac! It purrs like a kitten, without any of the nagging that Microsoft continually offers, plus the interface is much more beautiful. I love beauty. It even makes a difference what my computer screen looks like! It does not seem that a computer, being the inanimate object that it is should have that much impact on ones live, or the beauty of that life; but I can say this: When I bought my Apple computer, life got better! Gloria, I sincerely hope you find a better world with Linux. It certainly sounds wonderful, although I have never had the pleasure. Open source is a great idea, maybe we can talk Adobe and some of the big boys into that concept! Speaking of good software, my family business uses blog software called “Wordpress” it is free, the updates are free, and it is excellent software. It produces beautiful pages and is much more adaptable than some of the others out there. The website is http:wordpress.org if anyone needs some great blogging software. It kinda follows the same principle discussed here. Someone brings their gift to the table, offers it to the world, and just asks that the beauty be passed on to someone else. When we “do unto others” we enrich the universe. Bravo to all!
