Who’s the Smarty?

We’re working on a calendar book, just as Bernie had suggested many years ago. It only took me five or six years before I saw what a good idea he was giving us!

Annette, the archivist, has helped find great quotations and supplied me with Heavenletter titles, numbers, and links so efficiently.

BUT, there are some quotations I would like to include that are from my personal Godwriting or from someone’s personal question when these have not been published anywhere.

If we are going to be consistent, naturally we want to link these quotations as well.

My choice is to post these on this very blog entry! That’s the simplest for me. And, voila, we have a link!

Here is one of my favorite quotations:

Gloria to God:

You have to be, beyond doubt, the Kindest Employer in the World.

God said:

Ah, beloved, when you come down to it, I am the only Employer.

Do you love that quotation too?

***

I wrote the above yesterday, and now I’m writing this morning, the actual morning this entry goes up.

I had to change the title. Yesterday the title was This Blog Entry Is a Ploy. Today the title is Who’s the Smarty? I could also have entitled it The Joke Is on Me.

There is a Yiddish expression: “Darf gehn in college…”

This is the literal translation: “You have to go to college…”

The implied meaning is: “You have to go to college to become so lame-brained.”

It dawned on me this morning that a link is supposed to be a link to something. What I had been doing here, in all my brilliance, was to have a link that linked the reader solely to the words linked from! HAHAHAHA - do you get it?!!! Pointless!

Add to my  short-sided thinking, my consummate pride!  Do you get the picture? I thought I was so smart to have figured out a way to include links! I thought I was absolutely brilliant. I should have remembered that pride goeth before a fall.

Truth be told,  I heard “Darf gehn in college” quite a bit at home.

Thank goodness I caught on before this entry was published with all my original stunning pride. Can you imagine?

Have you too ever been so brilliant?!

I guess some quotations in this planned book will just have to go without links!

By the way, if you have some favorite quotations, please post them here.

Delightful Gloria, Yes, I do love the quotation, too! So you will just note some quotations in the calendar as “unpublished”?? I do think a link to a blog entry that includes a God-quotation would be more than just a link to the words themselves! Anyone who decided to follow the link might become a blog-reader! Is this what you meant about “a ploy”? I think encouraging people to discover the blog is givig them a reward! It is another source of delight! Loving you.

Dear Margaret, you are enlightening me! I had not thought so far.

The original ploy was a sort of fake blog. It was a place for links under the guise of a blog. It was where I was going to cleverly add unpublished quotes so there was a link for people to go to. Just think — dead end links! And readers wouldn’t at first comprehend that I was using it for storage.

And all the while, there was a real ploy right in front of me that I didn’t even think of! I could be bringing people to the blog indirectly without telling them ahead of time. (Margaret, we might make a great team!)

Although I love writing the blog, and I love that there are real people who read it and comment — real live people who still, undauntedly, come, I am not sure that bringing people to the blog for an ulterior purpose is the God-given thing to do! Better to bring them to a Heavenletter.

Wow, Margaret, you just gave me an idea! We could put an INCORRECT link that will take the reader to ANOTHER Heavenletter. Maybe I am a genius after all! But, darn it, I’m quite sure that Heaven Admin and Annette, the archivist, would not go along with this idea.

Keep thinking!
