What God Says about My Cluttering

Beloved Blog Readers,

Your comments yesterday blew me away.

I have the idea that those of us who have difficulty with decluttering are not all alike, and yet there is a commonality we share. I share with Charles that, sure enough, as soon as I part with something, that’s when I will need it.

As I deal with decluttering, I realize that my initial difficulty lies in the cluttering. Why on Earth did I ever have so much stuff? There was some deep possibly subconscious urgency to go to yard sales and have to buy something.  I had so much stuff I didn’t even know what I had. But this buying drive has left, and yard sales and thrift stores simply don’t have the power over me they once did.

Anyway, I asked God about my not finishing with the decluttering, and here it is:

Gloria to God:

Dear God, Margaret suggested that I ask You or that aspect of myself that stops me from totally decluttering, and I would like to ask You.

God said:

You are afraid you will lose your creativity. You see being tidy as contraction, and untidiness as expansion. You are someone who very much wants to expand. You see tidiness as attention on details, and details to you are simply not a priority.

The physical world altogether is difficult for you. You see time and space as getting in your way. In many ways you wish the physical world did not exist. At the same time, you hold onto physical items for, as much as you would like to not be bound by the physical world, you hold tight, as if without the physical doo-dads you would lose your bearings. You are afraid of getting lost, and, so, you leave things around the way Hansel and Gretel left crumbs so that you will find your way back. You know what I mean.

Of course, attention to neatness will not stop your imagination — nor will it affect your entry into even greater creativity. There is no stopping your expansion.

At the same time, I want to say that your casualness has not hurt your creativity either.

As for neatness or not neatness, it doesn’t matter to Me. A heart of gold is more important to me than neatness. Neatness and clutter are not even on My radar. What do I care about them, but I do care about you, and I know that you wish to be done with clutter. Do not be afraid. I am with you. You will be grounded even without accumulations.

Perhaps call neatness clutter, and clutter neatness! Give the words different meanings. Tell yourself to clutter, and you will neaten.

Or tell you yourself you are clearing the way for Me, even though I am already right with you.

In any case, the time will come when you will have all the empty space in your house that you do desire and require. You don’t need to make it an issue.

God has a way about Him, doesn’t He?

Beloved Jack, do you know that it would be easy for me to help you clean out your garage, spider webs and all? I would enjoy doing it.

It would be easy to deal with someone else’s clutter!

And maybe mine will be easy now too. :)

“Do not be afraid. I am with you.”–God. What will our lives be like when our hearts as well as our minds really absorb this beyond-wonderful Truth?! Thank you so much for sharing God’s answer to your question–it speaks deeply to my heart this morning, too. This is going to be God-Is-With-Me Day here. Loving you and thanking God for you as always, dear friend.

What a response from God! He does have a way about Him!

Senora, you have an idea how I am about having a harmonious environment. I understand clutter to mean disorder. I am happy in a space that has lots of things all over the place, just as long as there is a harmonious mind that regulates the environment.

External order is an aid to ones without internal harmony. When there is scatter inside and scatter outside then there is chaos.

With awareness on the centre within, all things emerge in coherence when the eyes open.
