Update on Jack, the Border Collie
When we heard from that wonderful couple who had a sheep farm, we were sure they would want to see Jack right away. We pictured how we’d drive Jack the their farm, and we’d make sure they would be good to Jack and that he would be able to run and work the sheep. We had the trip all set in our minds. I had even started a blog entry called Fare Thee Well, Jack. I imagined the photos of his new home and family.
Naturally, we had written back to the couple right away with glowing reports and photos of Jack.
Alas, the couple never responded. Not one word.
I wrote to them again. Lauren did too. Still not a word.
I wrote to the Midwest Border Collie Rescue, and not one word back from them either. They also had neglected to give a full description of Jack on their site. Just one sentence. “Stray found in Fairfield.” And only the first downtrodden photo of Jack. I sent Border Collie Rescue lots more pictures of Jack, Jack well-fed and his coat gleaming.
Not one word back from them either.
So I’m grumbling to myself about how irresponsible everyone is and so on.
I talked with my very intuitive friend about Jack, and she said that Jack will find a home when everyone is finally ready to let Jack go. When everyone is finally ready to let Jack go.
That leaves Lauren and me unless it’s Jack himself. If Lauren is holding Jack here, it’s on some deep subconscious level, for she has tried with all her heart to find Jack a good home. For his sake. It’s nice for us having Jack around, but I don’t think I’m attached. If I am, it’s also hidden from me.
The concept that we could unwittingly be holding up Jack’s placement was a breakthrough for me. How much do we factor in to what happens and doesn’t happen in our lives? How responsible are we?
I mean, I had been thinking the Border Collie Rescue and that farm couple weren’t doing all they should be doing, that they, in effect, were at fault.
God in Heavenletters™ keeps telling us to change our thinking, and this one sentence from my friend opened up a whole new way of looking at things for me. God has also said how powerful our thoughts are, and this, of course, must include thoughts we’re not aware of. God also has said: “We create the world as we walk through it.”
So, do we somehow create everything that happens to us? Do we call things to us? And do we block other things from coming to us, even when we want them?
Can this power of the subconscious also be true in a reverse way? Sometimes we’re not aware that we really want something, and then it falls in our lap, and we’re so happy and realize we always really and deeply wanted it. I think of God in my life. I was so oblivious for so many years, and then, holy-moly — God walked in.
