The million-dollar question

A dear friend of mine recently said lightly: “If only I could get other people to do what I want when I want when I want and the way I want!”

At the time, I was going through my technology troubles, and I said:

“If only I could get myself to do what I want.”

Thinking about this afterward, I thought this was an important statement I had made. Really.

The real question isn’t about someone else — it’s about me. What other people aren’t doing to my specifications, I’m probably also not doing to my specifications. I may not be doing it at all!

Of course, God in Heavenletters™ is saying this all the time. “Not what are you getting, but what you are giving.”

If only I can remember this for today…

What a great comment Gloria! I laughed with recognition at the idea of getting myself to do what I want. If only I will remember it too.
