Thank God

I will not even speak about the Thanksgiving dinners my mother used to make. They were full of every variety of food entirely made from scratch. My mother’s one consistent pleasure in life was cooking. It was never too much for her. She never thought of what she could skip making. She always made the most — in terms of courses and quantity and people to come over.

I certainly appreciate all my mother did now, but not at the time.  What did I know then of time and its passage?

Today is Thanksgiving Day. Holidays tend to make me feel sad, yet I am far more grateful  than ever before.  The list is long.

Lady Isis http://home1.gte.net/ladyisis/profile.htm wrote something beautiful in her newsletter in honor of Thanksgiving , and I would like to include it here:

Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated in the U.S.. But instead of just a U.S. holiday I would like to see it be a day of thanksgiving celebrated worldwide. For no matter how hard life may be right now with the many changes going on, we still have a lot to be thankful for. Instead of focusing on the negative let us all make a list of what we are thankful for and give thanks to God for all we do have.

For those who do have, share it with those who do not. “Pay it Forward!” Cast your bread upon the waters and watch it come back ten-fold.

Of the many things I am thankful for  . . . I am thankful for each and every one of you!

I am sure there are many holidays from other countries that would be wonderful for the U.S. to celebrate as well.

God bless you.

With love,

Gloria
