SADD, a New Kind of Dyslexia/ADD

I have invented this, and I have named it SADD for Spatial Attention Deficient Disorder. Earlier I called it Spatial Dyslexic (SD), but I think four initials give it the importance it deserves. Now that this announcement has been made, undoubtedly there will be more people coming forward with this disorder.

To see if you too have SADD, tell us how many of the following symptoms apply to you:

You open a container of smooth almond butter you bought fresh in bulk from the health food store. You take an Ezekiel totally sprouted wrap from the refrigerator.

You warm the wrap in a cast iron pan. You spread almond butter on the warmed wrap.

You look all over the refrigerator for half an avocado you are sure is there. Naturally, you don’t find it until later, so you cut another avocado and put the extra remaining half in the fridge as well.

You peel the new half of avocado and cut it in slices and apply on top of the almond butter.

You add a few sprigs of arugula if you can find the package of it in the fridge and some fresh oregano and basil which are easy to find because they are growing in the soil and pots outside.

You search for the particular salt you like on this particular wrap. It is called Celtic salt, and you find it somewhere on the kitchen counter.

Now that your wrap is complete, you sit down and eat it.

Now that you have eaten the delicious wrap bulging with goodness, you look for the cover that was on the almond butter. Of course, you had to have had it when you opened the almond butter. You remember taking the cover off. Where is it now? It has suddenly, and perhaps, miraculously, disappeared. It is nowhere to be found.

It is unknown where or if it will ever be found. You even look in the fridge for the cover in case you somehow foolishly left it there. You do not find it. You do find the missing avocado half and put it with the new avocado half so you can find them together tomorrow.

You check to make sure you did return the arugula to the fridge. You did, or you didn’t. In any case, you make it right.

If you have checked any three of the above, you may be a candidate for SADD. You may have an advanced case.

SADD is disconcerting. You can’t find something even when you just put it down a fraction of a second ago. It is particularly disturbing when you live in a two-story home. You are continually frantically running up and down stairs looking for something, sometimes discovering that you have been looking for the missing item for so long that you have forgotten what you are looking for and so lack the eureka of finding it when you eventually do.

I am a good reader and don’t have dyslexia. I do have a brutal form of SADD, however, which I have just explained to you. SADD is debilitating. It seems like your whole life is spent looking for something you can’t find. It is devastating. It is very difficult to live with.

I was astonished when I learned that there are people in this world who remember exactly where they have put something.

My friend Nancy even put a map up on the inside door of my cupboards so I could know where to find my flours, spices, and so on. Her system works well when I remember to put the item back in its exact place instead of just leaving it somewhere on the counter.

Perhaps you are someone who, when you are looking for an herb, you can remember where you put it. Be grateful.

Does anyone know of a natural cure for SADD?

Don’t, for Heaven’s sake, try to cure it! It’s a source of otherwise untappable creativity. Makes you find things you never looked for, beans on a wire for instance.

Oh the wrap sounds delicious! I intend to write it down so I can try it later. Of course “later” I will have to remember what I wrote it on (3 x 5 card or paper) to give me a clue where I might have put it.

I agree with Jochen that you shouldn’t even TRY to cure it! I remember the “beans on a wire” picture–so funny.

I did, though, find a partial solution for the lid problem–in the canning section of the grocery store, you’ll find boxes of screw on lids in two sizes (bit mouth and small mount) that fit most jars. It’s the one thing I keep handy (dump a few in the silverware drawer). Funny thing is, once I found that solution, I seldom lose lids any longer. Hmmmm.

As for the rest, I only let the frustration mount for a few minutes before calling on my angels to PLEASE help me find whatever it is I’m looking for–especially when I’m in a hurry to leave the house.

Not only is it hereditary (apparently), SADD is contagious. The guys working on my house lost tools, and light switches, and even wood for trim, because they put them down for a second, and they just vanished. Are you sure the house is not somehow eating your half-avocados and jar lids?

I think somehow it’s the energies of being “in the world but not of the world.” Since we’re ascending, we’re passing through or into more dimensions. Obviously, our lost items are THERE, just not on the same plane or in the same dimension as we are at the time.

For example, Gloria, perhaps you started your wrap while on the 4th of 5th dimension, so there the lid stayed. Everything else came back with you when you returned to 3D except the lid! No wonder you couldn’t find it! It was on another plane of existence and simply took longer to follow you back than the other stuff.

Perhaps the solution is simply to call them back to whatever plane of existence we are on at that time!

Hello Friend,
I believe after reading your entry that i probably have SADD as well. I certainly do have ADD and the way i manage my dysfunction is that i have learned to love it. In the process of learning to love it i have also learned many ways of helping myself remember where i left things and what i am supposed to be doing next.
A period of time was spent on an extended pitty party when it was first discovered that ADD is a reality for me. Then i snapped out of the pitty party and got busy figuring out how to overcome this disability. The process of figuring out how to manage this disorder was challenging and fun. Fun because i experienced positive results. Challenging because it was hard to get to the positive results. Two things helped me to make progress, once i wanted to make progress, one is EyeQ published by Infinite Mind and the other is a book titled “The Body Has A Mind Of Its Own”.
Blessings to all who deal with disorders of the brain. God created us all whole and perfect as we are and we are able to heal ourselves, mind and body when we utilize the right tools and proper mind set.
Love & Hugs,

Such an interesting response!

Betty, I had thought of SADD as a result of a lack of development at some early stage of life. Some step of development that I had missed.

As a parallel, I read years ago that crawling is a prerequisite for learning how to read. Those children who do not crawl are at a disadvantage when it comes to reading.

I wonder if there is something equivalent to that in terms of locating oneself in one’s kitchen — and the world!

I wanted to comment on others’ response too!

Pam, we could write a science fiction story! Sort of a Narnia wardrobe thing but it would be of a woman in her kitchen who misplaces things from one dimension to another! A kind of I LED THREE LIVES. We could call it: I LIVED IN THREE DIMENSIONS FROM ONE MOMENT TO THE NEXT!
What do you think!

Jochen, that is so sweet. I do think there is little chance of a breakthrough in my SADD. Hmm, I had never thought it was connected to creativity, but I like that!
I did love the green beans with stems lined up on the cutting board that looked like birds sitting on a wire. Did you see that too?

Lauren, you mean it’s contagious! It spreads to everyone who comes in contact! Do you think that even reading about it multiplies the incidence of SADD? What have I done?!!!

HA! Proves my point. Your energies are expanding so that everyone who comes in contact is jumping dimensions … and the “stuff” just can’t keep up! Indeed we could write a book … love your title.

Betty, I had seen ads for EyeQ at some point and thought of ordering it, but never did. I’m going to look this up again. Thanks for sharing!
