Phenomenal Boss in Chicago Surfaces
Lauren didn’t hear and didn’t hear from Phenomenal Boss in Chicago.
A few days ago, she wrote a follow-up email:
Dear Super Boss,
Attached are the resume and cover letter I sent you last Saturday.
Next week I will be in Chicago interviewing, and I would really love to meet with you. What works better for you, Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning?

By this time, we were losing hope that she would ever hear from this employer.
Late yesterday afternoon, she got a call! The conversation went something like this:
Lauren: Hello.
Caller: This is [name.]
Lauren: Blank. [Now, by way of explanation, Lauren has been receiving quite a few calls from Chicago from rental agents about apartment-living. She was trying to compute which agent this was.]
Caller: This is Phenomenal Boss.
Lauren woke up!
Phenomenal Boss: I am meeting with applicants who live in Chicago, expressly in North Chicago, and how is it I am calling someone in Iowa!
Lauren: I am going to be living in North Chicago!
Phenomenal Boss: What area?
Lauren: Lincoln Park or Lakeview!
Phenomenal Boss: That’s only fifteen minutes away! Meet with me Tuesday? That’s when I’ll be finishing the first round of interviews.
Lauren: Yes!

So Super Boss and Super Employee will meet this Tuesday — tomorrow — at 4 p.m.
May Super Employee get a second interview and the job!
