Other People
I have a tendency to think I’m the only REALLY busy person in the world! My world, that is.
It also seems to me that most people feel that way about themselves too! They’re busy while the rest of us are idle! Or they’re more than busy — they’re occupied with important matters, while the rest of us just dribble our time away in play or on nothingness. Have you noticed this about other people?
I can’t begin to tell you the people who ask me, “Well, what do you do all day?”
I never seem to find the right words. I stammer a little. All I know is I’m hustling every minute, and I don’t get done. There is always more. And there is always more that could be done and done better — if one only had the time.
What does God mean that time is non-existent!!!! (Just kidding, God.) For, surely, there is not enough of it.
And have you, dear blog-readers, noticed that time keeps going faster and faster? I remember when a day lasted a long time, and now it’s like a minute. I look up in a daze at 9 p.m., for example, and think,”Augghh. Where has the day gone? the night too!”
I used to be snobbish about people who didn’t answer all their emails. I used to mutter, “It would only take them a minute. ” Now I understand. 120 emails times one minute is two hours!
I believe that Bernie Siegel does answer every email promptly. He has a knack. He can answer even a long involved email in three, four, or five words. I, on the other hand, seem to have to write a novel.
Well, I’d better stop writing this Heaven diary entry and start doing some real work because the truth is that writing here every morning is exactly play!
