Opposites

You know how everything has an opposite in the world whereas in Heaven, there is Oneness? It dawned on me today that all the opposites are within me.

I was thinking, for no reason at all, about how I admire women who are always perfectly made up and groomed, eyebrows tweezed perfectly, eye shadow perfect, lipstick put on with a brush, lip gloss on top and so forth and how, at the same time, I admire women who never wear make-up. Their wrinkled faces probably have never seen face cream. Their hair isn’t styled, their clothes are nothing special, and their faces are beautiful.

Then I started thinking I probably adore the opposites of everything!

I love to be alone. I relish it. I also long to be with friends.

I don’t like to be interrupted by the telephone, but I do like it that someone has called.

I am appalled at the idea of the mafia, but I sure loved Al Pacino in The Godfather.

I like books that are short, but if it’s a good one, I never want it to end.

I love to be involved, and I love to have nothing to do.

I love the idea of a Zen-like home, and I love eclectic.

I love to be settled and know how everything is going to be, and I love adventure.

Maybe there is something I feel only one way about, but, at this moment, I can’t think of what it could be.

What is this like for you? Are you both ways too?

Yes, I agree!

Oh Gloria,
When I read the intro into this blog entry, I thought it was going to be all about ego, either-or, black-white thinking. And maybe, by golly, it is. This seems like a perfect anology for the yin and yang of our true higher spiritual selves and the annoying chain yankings of our egos. You packaged it so simply, so beautifully with total acceptance. YES! I adore and need solitude, but I love the companionship and company of others every bit as much. I enjoy sitting quietly at home and yet I love to travel. I appreciate people who are totally organized and operate smoothly, but I appreciate those who fly completely by the seat of their pants in all things. This is showing us the path to acceptance; embracing all those dicotymies (I have no idea how to spell this!) within and without. The Ego Shmego and the bright white Spirit.
Thank you for your continued brilliance.

Jo and One,

Comments on this blog surpass the original entries. I love to read them.

First you make me laugh, Jo. Ego Shmego! Rest assured, I’m not going to reveal mine on the blog again — if I can help it!

And, dear One, you have summed up the Bible, the Gita, all the Holy Books with your one simple sentence. Of course, now that you’ve brought it out, it’s the thread, not the opposites, that counts.

With blessings and love,

Gloria

Wow One,
I agree with Gloria - that is one incredible sentence! What a lovely, articulation of pure Truth.
Namaste!
