One more great movie

Heaven Admin sure knows some great movies.

Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter,  Spring is an amazing movie. It is amazing for the power of its silence. It is BEAUTIFUL. It touches the heart deeply. Very little speaking in this movie and lots of drama. Every frame is a work of art.

I will also call this movie tantalizing. It has left me with some unanswered questions:

Who is the woman in the last season? Why is her face covered, and why do we never see her face?

How did the master become so wise? Do Buddhist teachings make everyone so wise?

How did this divine master get to be on the floating hermitage?

How did people know of him and come to him for healing?

How did the boy ever bring himself to leave that beautiful master?

I can also ask the reverse of that question: How could the boy have stayed?

This is a very evocative movie. And that is part of its power. It doesn’t explain  everything, and yet it’s not one of those movies that leaves you in the middle.

This movie is on a different level by far than most movies.  This may be the best.

Silence brings the fruit of wisdom. The essence of Buddhist practices are gardening tools for the gardeners who seek this harvest from the garden of life.
