Wonderful quote, wonderful comment, Gloria. I will not mention, no no, that some time after we said I DO, more often than not we change our minds.

As for Heaven #9, you will justly accuse me of interpreting this quotation when I say that God wants us to say yes once and for all to make us remember we have long since done so.

Let me back this up by a wonderful passage from Heaven #1419 I have been carrying around with me for some time. They are words that, in the strangest way, make me feel: "It has become real now." Oh, that quick embrace...

"Remember the pact We made in a quick embrace as you emerged as a Human Being on Earth.

I look into your eyes now to remind you of Our sacred Words. We said, "I do" to each other."

Beloved Jochen, the point you make seems to me to say:

"Say Yes once and for all. Say Yes NOW." (#9)

When we get married, we say I DO. It is said and done.

Beloved Emilia, I feel the same as you. I want to mean it when I say it, really mean it ONCE AND FOR ALL. Of course, God wants us to play, yet that doesn't mean to play around forever. Am I serious about God or not?

I suppose we have forever, but why wait!

Yes, beautiful extraction, I will go through it calmly.
I like the expression "once and for all", it is definitive, categorical, urgent, committed. And I tend to be so, I do not like "if" and "but" and "let's see". Once the idea lying beneath the words is clear to me, and it can take a while for it to sink, I become hard and fast, with a sense of no more time to waste.
Once and for all, I keep saying to myself, will you understand that it can be now!

If I dare to express what I feel most deeply, my very personal take on it would be that "once and for all", like everything God says, is strictly for the moment. It is not about commitment the way we tend to use the word. Growing commitment is what happens naturally as I listen to the Great Author. And that growing commitment is simply the growing desire to listen ever more deeply and be touched ever more, well, devastatingly.

ONCE AND FOR ALL – if I'm able to hear it this very moment, rising to it a notch or two, fine. If not, tomorrow (or, statistically, in about four weeks) will be just as fine.

The extraction itself (I haven't read all of it yet, of course) is just great! Really a treat.
