Moving Sale Surprises
Nice Surprise during Moving Sale
My postman came to the moving sale and bought some things I thought I couldn’t part with. What was extra nice was that I was able to ask him to hold my mail while I was away! And he will deliver it all right to my door when I get back. Isn’t this remarkable United States Postal Office curb service?
Nice Occurrence at the Mexican Restaurant Afterwards
While we were eating at the Aranda Buffet which, as I mentioned, is in a gas station, a lady came in to pay for filling up her car. If I were tall and thin, I would dress the way she did too. She wore black tights, a short bold polka-dotted skirt or shorts, and a striped top. She may have had a striped vertical sash going in the opposite direction. She was very made-up and very adorable.
I truly admired her outfit and I didn’t mind saying so.
Well, after I said that, June, Lauren’s jewelry-making bead friend, looked at me deeply. June is great fun to be with, kind of a rough and tumble friend, it would seem, and now I discovered that she had a sensitive side. She said that I appreciated something that her own dear mother would have frowned at. June liked that I appreciated something that was a little off the wall.
From the expression on Lauren’s face, I gathered that she, my own daughter, might have preferred a mother who was more like June’s.
There was Lauren, my daughter sitting there. She is the best daughter in the world. There is none like her. However, there is a frequent expression on Lauren’s face when she is out in public with me that makes me suspect that I embarrass her, and here was her good friend June outright liking me and not embarrassed by me at all.
And then June melted my heart totally when she said she had bought the lovely china flowered quiche pan from the yard sale because it was mine so she could have something to remember me by.
Nice Aftermath of Moving Sale
The young man that came to the yard sale yesterday — the one all the girls are in love with — well, he is serious about buying the house. He came to pick up some things he had bought. And, of course, he wanted to see the whole house.
Everything is still turned upside down, so I asked him not to look. He promised he wouldn’t, and we gave him a tour. He had wonderful creative ideas. I will tell you one.
In my apartment, there is a beautiful big loft upstairs and off it a beautiful bedroom. The trouble is you have to go through the first room to get to the second, so the first room has no privacy and can’t really be a guest room. I can’t tell you the idle hours I have spent trying to think of a way to make the two rooms separate, and I never came up with even one solution.
Immediately, this young prospective buyer hit on the idea of making a ladder go up from the first floor into the second bedroom, thus allowing the first room to be private. What a charming thing. I would have loved to climb a ladder up to that room.
It turns out that this young man is a housing inspector!
He liked what he saw. However, Lauren and I are leaving for Chicago early Monday morning — the day you read this blog entry– so Lauren gave this young man her key so he can inspect the house.
We will see what happens!
Note: I will be staying at Lauren’s in Chicago for a couple of nights before going on to London. Lauren set up a wireless modem for me so I would have internet access, but so far she hasn’t been able to get it to work. So if in the next few days there is no blog entry, you will know why.
Santhan and I will be doing blog entries during the European trip.
Every day a Heavenletter will be written as before. Without fail.
Blessings to you all.
With love,
Gloria
