More Yiddish Proverbs

Proverbs may be wise, and yet they are also so human, so very human.

Here are some additional Yiddish proverbs. This first one is similar to the one in the previous blog entry:

Understanding is something we’re sure the other fellow hasn’t got.

Here’s one that’s sad but true:

You can’t force anyone to love you or lend you money.

We all know that!

Now here are some about God – guaranteed to make you laugh!

God is an honest payer, but a very slow one.
God loves the poor and helps the rich.
God will provide. If only God would provide until He provides!

I don’t know how old a saying has to be before it becomes a proverb, but here is one last Yiddish proverb that’s pure Heavenletters!

God made man because He loves stories.

What great proverbs do you know?
