Minden, Nevada
Michelle Gabler and I are quite a team. It is Michelle, who invited me to give a Godwriting™ workshop in her hometown of Minden, Nevada and paid my way out. I say we’re quite a team because…well, neither Michelle nor I had thought of discussing where we would meet up at the Reno airport! I didn’t think about it at all until I was waiting for my luggage at baggage claim. Michelle had thought of it sooner but too late to reach me.
I was hanging out at the baggage claim area with a very nice lady, Jan. Jan asked me, “Where is the sponsor of the workshop going to pick you up?�?
“I don’t know,�? I said in my inimitable way. Jan was looking at me rather pathetically when up popped this adorable lady saying: “Are you Gloria?�?
“Well, yes I am,�? I said, and then brilliantly, “Are you Michelle?�?
And indeed she was.
Very soon Michelle and I became fast friends. I have never laughed so much in my life. I mean snorting uproarious doubled-over laughter — about nothing at all!
There’s lots of harmony in Michelle’s home. She was a single mother who raised two of the happiest together children I have ever seen. Gabe is twenty-two and Alicia is twenty. They love their mother, don’t mind showing it and were so gracious to me. And Michelle is a laid-back mother who home-schooled her kids, always gave them lots of freedom and independence and respect. And Gabe and Alicia’s friends also adore Michelle and come over at all hours, wanting to see Michelle!
Michelle has two cats and one dog, all well-behaved. The pug dog, Baba, attended the workshop, and you’ll get to see him dogwriting in the next entry which will be about the workshop itself.
A black cat Felicity and a buff-colored cat Bundygar also live in harmony in the Gabler family. Michelle does a wonderful thing called Bowen Therapy, and Felicity acted as Michelle’s assistant and walked on me during the therapy wherever she felt her help was needed.
Michelle lives in a 1911 historic house. Michelle is an artist, and, wherever you look, there is a feast for the eyes. There isn’t any corner in her house that isn’t an exquisite work of art.
In the back, there is a large building that houses the Sacred Spiral Spiritual Center. The picture you see at the top of this blog shows some of the outside of the center. This is the OUTSIDE! This is enchantment. This gives you an idea of the artistry I’m talking about.
Michelle is a twin. Stephanie, her twin sister, came to the workshop, as did Alicia, Michelle’s twenty-year old daughter. In fact, Alicia did all the registration and things like that. In regular life, Stephanie performs marriages.
The nights are starry in Minden, Nevada, and we have had incredibly warm and sunny weather. It would be hard not to smile while on a visit to Minden.
