Millionaire Matchmaker

When I first heard of this TV Show, I thought, “Ugh.” Men with money and women with looks, and that’s what matters to them most of all.  Hmph, I thought, what happened to the observation that outer beauty is only skin-deep, and money is only money? I would never waste my time watching men and women with values I shun go on TV and who aren’t even embarrassed.  How uncouth. How shoddy. How superficial. I was too prim to even consider watching such a show.

But then I did watch the show, and now Millionaire Matchmaker is a favorite show of mine. Yes, it is!

True, there are the colossal men and women who are not admirable in my eyes. The “mixers” that are based on money and looks are not admirable to me. The  women who blatantly want a man with money who also has to be a certain height, or she will not consider him,  are not admirable to me. The way some of the women dress etc. is not admirable to me. What is admirable to me is Patti Stanger herself, the Matchmaker. I love her.

Maybe superficial people too have the right to happiness!

Patti, the third generation matchmaker, instructs the people who come to her service on how to come from a higher place. She teaches men and women to value themselves.  She teaches common sense. I will go far as to say that she teaches old-fashioned moral standards.  She is very forthright and says bluntly what she has to say. She herself doesn’t care if a man is a millionaire ten times over. If he is acting like a jerk, she says so. If a man leads a woman on, for example, she won’t work with him.  Patti lays down ground rules and makes men gentlemen and women ladies. She is not swayed by the surface. She is sharp, I love her bold approach, and I learn from her.

Now that you know how I feel about people who can’t see beyond appearances,  I have to confess that I’m no one to talk.

On the show I see Patti’s top assistant, Destin, who has a very high spiked Mohawk and Gothic appearance, and I become humbly aware of my own superficiality.  I might not have hired Destin solely because of his looks. My excuse would have been  what other people would make of his appearance — not due to my shortsightedness, of course.

But not Patti. I’m proud of her. She hired Destin on the basis of his skills, attitude, and energy. He’s a great guy and does great things for Patti’s business. Patti cuts through the surface in half a second, and so she excels.

I want to be more like Patti.

I will just end with mention of Patti’s book:

I, too, like Patty, and she must serve a purpose because her services are definitely in demand. If I were a millionaire, I would not want to limit my dating possibilities to people who are looking for millionaires - it does not seem to be a way to increase the odds of a real actual connection that is based on more than money.

Not another book!! I met my perfect mate and married her more than 50 years ago. and after all that time we are happier than ever in each others company. I can understand the admiration for the host I admire Ophra although I only watch her if the people she has on her show are interresting to me. Most are not. So I watch the weather fore cast. I grab a book that I like and I recomment the St Germain series. Further I am going to pick Lemon Aspen, a wild native fruit, caterers use to spice up their foods, Once I get payed for this lot I might have some money for your Hat, this last year the Ausie dollar has been very slack and is now slowly recovering, Love you all Jack
