Lead Balloons

People are happy for me that I’m going on a motor trip all the way to Capilla del Monte, and yet, oddly, some feel responsible for putting a blight on it. They say:

“Be careful. You know, there are some places in Latin and South American that are not safe.

“What if the motor home breaks down and you are 500 miles away from civilization?

“Four people in a motor home for three months? Close quarters, isn’t it?

Do you know well-meaning people like this?!

I think of clever ripostes but they’re not really all that clever. The fact is, I don’t know how to respond.

Here’s another example:

As you know, I am still puttering around in my house trying to get ready for my moving sale. Getting ready hangs heavily over my head. It is probably taking me longer than it’s ever taken anyone else in the whole world to get ready for a moving sale. I move boxes around, sort things, and primarily can’t face it all.

A dear friend came over my house recently. I gave her some things, she bought a few things, and graciously offered to help on the far-off day of the moving sale. “That would be great! I said.

Then she says, looking suavely over all the boxes, “You know, you won’t sell everything.

Just like that, she says: “You know, you won’t sell everything.

First of all, I don’t want to hear it. Secondly, I don’t want to hear it. Thirdly, it is a big lie because, of course, I can sell everything. There is no question. Everything I have is really nice.

Besides, there isn’t anything in the world that won’t sell at a low enough price, is there?

Canim Gloria, those people just sound like some mothers. I think they had learnt to act like that, from their mothers, in their early childhood.

World is full of them :)

True about anything geting sold for a low enough price.

I’m setting up an office in a town south of Durban along the coast and the house I’m renting for the purpose was previously let out to a company. They have fitted curtains. They spent a small fortune for the curtains. The guy offered them to me at 3/5 the price. I said no and went for the 2 fans, the deep freezer (upright deep freezers use much less energy as the cold stays in. One may set an upright deep freezer to work like a refrigerator and may reduce well over 50% energy usage), simple kitchen tables and chairs and a vacuum. He then offers the curtains at 1/5 the price. I was planning on buying some fabric and using that for the future team members bedrooms. Yet somehow the 1/5 price made me go for the curtains. They’re a yucky brown.

Yes you can sell everything. No question.

I’m so glad that I am not able to attend your moving sale. I would probably buy everything. And I rarely bargain!

The nod and smile technique works best. When someone says, “What if the tyre falls off when you driving along a swamp full of Nile crocodiles” - nod and smile.

Camper vanning is a Buzzzzzzz. Mieke and I done it for years. It is fun,you see different things and also things different. People in other campers are like, one big family. You must be a complete sourpuss not to enjoy it and I am sure You not only enjoy it you will love it. O-k you get a flat tyre, so what, you change it and some other camper comes along, stops and makes you a cup of tea for your effort. Garage sale we call it here and some go well if the prices are right others are duds some try to sell you things you can buy cheaper in the shop, and New. But you find greed everywhere, You, with your good friend’s help will get rid of whatever you want to get rid of. don’t you promote Your good friend God every day, so listen to GOD and not to negative spruik from mere mortals LOVE you Jack

By what I know you until now, dear Gloria, I am positive that your camper trip will be fabulous. Adventurous, for sure!

Same goes for your moving sale. Imagine also, what used to be your belongings imbued with divine energy, where they will end up? Maybe, indirectly blessing the new owners?

Smile:)all is well.
Hugs,
Xenia

If you dear ones came to my moving sale, you would have to take home everything I give you.

I will take pictures of some of my favorite things.
