In Service to God

I tend to favor the poetic Heavenletters, the ones that talk about Heaven and how wonderful we really are and what the world is going to be like as soon as we know our Oneness. These Heavenletters are way beyond my understanding, but they really stir my heart. I breathe them in, and I love them. And they require nothing of me! I mean, how do I take some action to make myself sublime, for instance?

But the more practical down-to-earth Heavenletters like #2311, In Service to God, do a number on me. They affect how I move in the world.

First, here’s some of its content:

God said to say:

“Today I branch out in my life. How I feel is not a matter of concern. No matter how I may feel, I am here to serve. … I am not here on Earth for myself. I am here to serve, and serve I will. As I look for opportunities to serve, I will find them. I will not ignore even one opportunity…

“I may not see a splendid opportunity right off, but I will not pass one by. If I see a paper to pick up, I will pick it up. Whatever I see to do, that is what I will do. There will be nothing too small for me to do. It is no longer a question if I want to do it. It is a question of my being there and its being there for me to do. It would not be in front of me if it were not for me to do.”

I find myself remembering this Heavenletter more than any other. Literally, when I see a paper on the street, I have to pick it up.

If I’m in a store, and I see that a blouse is unsteady on its hanger, I have to fix it. If a blouse has fallen to the floor, I have to find its hanger and hang it back up.

I might have done this before occasionally anyway, but now I have to.

Now I’m on the look-out for these opportunities!

These words stay with me:

“It is no longer a question if I want to do it. It is a question of my being there and its being there for me to do. It would not be in front of me if it were not for me to do…I will not ignore even one opportunity…

In the next blog entry, I will tell about an opportunity to serve that I didn’t even catch on to until afterwards.

Dear Gloria, I appreciate what you say here, about the different effects on you of the two sorts of HLs. I, though, tend to feel frustrated by the “celestial” ones and hope I can learn to just let them wash over me like you do until there’s not such a big difference between my present level of awareness and what God assures us is where we are headed (or where we are now but just don’t realize it yet). On the other hand, those with “practical” ideas–things we can do “in the meantime”– are very inspiring to me and I do feel they are steadily helping me change my behaviors–and perceptions–in the world. There seems to be God-given advice for every situation, and always, when I think of it, I am glad to have it. The one I am most grateful for is the idea of silently sending love to everyone wherever I am. I do that in meetings a lot. Thanking God for you and for Heavenletters as always, with love, Margaret

Most heaven letters talk to me. I have a early morning shot of LOVE every time I read the letters. Furthermore I wish all a most loving Easter. Jack

Dear Gloria Thank you for inviting me to write on Godwriting… I know that sometimes God speaks to me and i can write as i hear in the silence… I would like
to do much more.
It is Easter Day today and i didn’t go
to church today did miss it though.. I don’t know why i got the impression that God wants me to just rest up for a few days… spend time with him… in peace..

Peace is a wonderful thing, peace of mind and yet it is peace of heart aswell, peace of body soul and mind…
Peace we have to start, we have to try each one of us individually you see? For that is what God intended all along was a peaceful garden Earth as it is heaven…
Isn’t that is wrong with our world there is too much noise, we can’t hear we can’t hear God what he has to say to us. He wants for us to be at Peace “He will take pity on the weak and the needy he will rescue them from their oppressors, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down. Great is the Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.” “He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.” “He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Sing to the lord with thanksgiving” (quotes taken from Psalms) Luv Karen

Gloria,

I just love this Heavenletter quote. It brought back memories of spending summers at the beach in Connecticut when I was growing up. We always stayed long after most people left as it was the nicest time of the day to be on the beach. My dad would go around picking up people’s trash that they had left behind–as a kid, it always embarrassed me.

Now when I see trash somewhere and pick it up, it makes me smile thinking of him.

Love,
Bev
