I would like to explain myself a little
There is a policy in Heavenletters that we don’t get into politics. I seem to learn everything the hard way, and I learned this on the forum. Talk about dividing people. There is nothing like a discussion of politics to create a heated argument. I seem to learn only after the fact.
I also learned the hard way that it is better that we stay away from discussing religion because some hearts can get hurt. Many feel so strongly about their particular religion, and discussions can get emotional, and not necessarily the uplifting emotions we want to share on the Heavenletter Spiritual Community Forum and this blog.
I suppose in my mind I don’t think of mystical Sufism or mystical Kabalah as religion. Rumi’s poetry reveals Sufism, yet I do not think of Rumi’s poetry as religious.
I do want to share in this blog what I learn. In the same way that I learn from Heaven Admin, I learn from Effendi. I don’t want to keep to myself what inspires me nor do I want to refrain from telling you about the people who inspire me.
I have no religion. I believe deeply in God. I respect religion. As I come closer to God through Heavenletters, the more I want to become a better person and learn how to love. This must be the essence and purpose of all religions. To become a better person and love. For this thought, credit goes to Effendi.
It is a fine line I walk, and I continue to ask every dear Heavenreader to please not bring up religion or their religion. Nor do I mean this entry to bring up a discussion of religion or a discussion of why we should or should not discuss religion.
Effendi is going to be in Fairfield for a just a few more days. He speaks to my heart. And I share my heart here with you.

Recently at supper at the Sufi House someone who had come for the first time asked Effendi what he was teaching. He said he was teaching how to love.
This person asked: “But why do you have to teach love?”
“Because people need to learn how to love.”
“But why do they need instruction?”
Then I responded. Every once in a while I say something that I’m glad I said, and this was one of those times.
I said, “We have learned very well how not to love. We have had master teachers of how not to love.”
Then Effendi, who has me sitting at the supper table on his right, put his arm around me and said, “That’s what I love about you, Gloria!”
And that’s what I love about Effendi!
In an upcoming blog, I will tell you what I am beginning to learn about the meaning of unconditional love.
