I am a Computer Genius
I bet you couldn’t do what I did. I suspect no one could do it quite so well.
A friend of mine asked if I knew someone who could help her download Skype. I figured that I could do it, so I ran over and installed Skype for her. Mistakenly, I mis-typed her last name — just one letter, that’s all — but it was a huge difference in her name. The error was easy to spot, yet neither one of us could figure out how to correct it. This friend is very good-natured, and she was perfectly willing to use her new name in Skype. That problem solved.
Later, when I was back home, we even chatted back and forth on Skype, and a good time was had by all.
Needless to say, I was quite proud of my computer acumen. You might say I swaggered.
I have heard that pride goeth before a fall.
It turns out that, although I installed Skype perfectly, her computer did not have enough footage (or whatever it is called) to accommodate Skype and her other programs, so all her other programs disappeared — just gone somewhere.
But she had Skype. She had Skype magnificently.
My friend had to call her computer man who spent forty-five minutes reconstituting her programs. Apparently, a choice had to be made between Skype and my friend’s other programs, and the computer man opted for her other programs, and Skype has gone bye-bye from her computer.
I have a feeling that my friend won’t ask me to help her with anything on her computer again, at least not for a long time. Nor will I be so quick to offer my services.
Nevertheless, I wonder if there is perhaps someone else out there brave enough to want my computer help. I am at your service!
