Further Response from Phenomenal Boss

You will get an idea from the following email from the Phenomenal Boss what a peach he is.  Alas, his email is a rejection.

We hope it’s not over yet. Lauren has a job-search strategist in her court (me) and has one more step she can take before taking no for an answer.

After you read P.B.’s email,  read Lauren’s response.  Her response is based on the idea that the person who gets the job very often is the one who wants it the most and lets it be known. Will this bring the results we want? We can only wait and see.

Here is P.B.’s email:

Subject: Our interview

Dear Lauren,

I made it through the initial interview process. I interviewed 25 candidates for the position of Super Assistant…Right Hand and Left Hand. I wanted to narrow the field down to 3 candidates for a second interview, and it was very difficult for me. The truth is, all of you were super in your own special way. You have many of the attributes I was looking for. I ended up choosing 3 individuals who had very specific and similar experience to the position I have available. I hope that I will end up hiring one of them.

I would like to thank you for the time and effort you put forth in the interview process. It really was a pleasure meeting you. If you feel that there is anything I can do for you, please feel free to call. I truly believe that your qualities will give you a ‘leg up’ in finding a position. Thanks again, and the best of luck.

And here is Lauren’s reply:

Subject: Make Me Your 4th Interview!

Dear Mr. (Name),

MAKE ME YOUR 4TH SECOND INTERVIEW!

It is easy for me to get a job. What is challenging is to find a job I really really want. Not just a job, but something that I can put my heart into. I am so happy to have found a job possibility with an employer I admire and want to work with. It also matters to me that you are working for something that benefits the world.  I want this job.

A Phenomenal Boss should have a Super Assistant. The three Super Candidates you chose can only be Super.  You will make a good choice. Even so, will you give me a second interview?

Three more things I want to tell you.

1. My Chicago address is XXXX N. Lake Shore Drive.  6.7 miles from you!

2. Give me one day’s notice, and I will be at your place for that second interview.

3. Give me one day’s notice, and I will start providing you with super assistance.

XX, one of my references, is a top-notch business consultant with expertise in matching people to the right job. She was an adviser to the President/CEO when I worked at XX, and I was the President’s Right and Left arm. She will give you excellent objective insight into what I can and will do for you. Her number is XXX.

Wishing you every success,

Lauren Wendroff

Have not heard anything, and am being all mature, and leaving it in God’s hands (most of the time).
