Big Fish

New Year’s Eve Heaven Admin picked out a DVD for me. Although now I learn that it had been nominated for lots of academy awards, I had never even heard of this movie before Heaven Admin showed it to me. It is a very special movie, and it was wonderful.
Describing Big Fish can’t begin to tell you how magnificent it is. The squibs about it that the industry gave would not have led me to watch it. They said it was about a son who is disillusioned with his father. That’s not really what the story is about, it seemed to me.
The one weakness in the story that I saw was the character of that very son who was displeased with his father to the extent that he did not talk to him for three years. Who in the world would not have adored this father, the hero, played by Albert Finney? (Billy Crudup played the bratty son. Ewan Macgregor played the father when he was young. Jessica Lang was the truly loving wife.)
Watch Big Fish right away!
I talked Heaven Admin into getting a couple of powerful movie dramas that I had seen. They were: Monster’s Ball with Billy Bob Thornton and Hallie Berry, and The Painted Veil with Edward Norton and Naomi Watts. I did a blog about The Painted Veil about a year ago. Very different from Big Fish, but Big Fish cannot really be compared to anything else.
Let us know how you enjoy it!
