And just when I thought I was so smart
It may take me a while with computer stuff, but finally I do catch on. After a long while, I have sometimes figured something out myself. There is something I want to tell you that I figured out yesterday. Don’t applaud yet!
You know I do not want to bother Heaven Admin too much, yet I do. I am asking for something all of the time. I do not seem to run out of things to ask. Consequently, I send an S.O.S. to Heaven Admin often, and he comes in and does his magic. Heaven Admin gives the kind of customer service that you can only dream of, and I’m not even his customer! He’s a pure volunteer of infinite patience.
I was so happy to see that yesterday I found a perfect solution, and I was as proud as punch. Of course, I don’t know why I couldn’t have thought of this sooner.
Here’s what it’s about:
Sometimes the auto-responder kicks into its own world, and my inbox is loaded with responses to the auto-responder. The responses just keep coming in one after the other. The auto-responder probably does this as a kind of joke. After the thousandth delete, it’s not funny. Doesn’t the auto-responder know that I have lots of other things to do rather than to play games with it?

The other day I had an Eureka experience! I put the offending email address into my junk box, leaving my inbox free for what is supposed to be there! I am a genius! I can delete from my junk box all in one stroke. That was good. But I couldn’t stop there. I had a further inspiration. And that was my comeuppance.
I had heard of blocked senders, but didn’t know where to find that place or how to go about it. Suddenly I decided that I WILL find the blocked sender place, and, I thought, I WILL keep out the email addresses that I put into the junk box. And then no more excessive autoresponding emails will I ever have to see.
I did find the blocked sender place. I was so happy! Now blocked senders won’t appear even in my junk box! Hurray!
Just when I was so smug, I discovered to my dismay that there is no middle ground. The blocked sender place wants all or nothing. It will not prevent me from just seeing the junk I never want to see. It will also prevent me from seeing everything that mistakenly goes into my junk box.
What mistakenly goes into my junk box? Heavenletters, for instance, just about every day. There are also occasional other important emails that for some unknown reason wind up in the junk box.
So I had to undo the check, and I discovered once again that I am not so smart as I thought.
Of course, Microsoft isn’t as smart as they should be either, or they would offer an option to never see specified junk mail but let in all the rest.
Will Microsoft ever learn?
