Fun People

Monday, September 29th, 2008

I realize something about fun. Fun isn’t going somewhere fun. It’s you and the people you’re engaging with — engaging without gravity, without anything at stake,  simply being together without attachment. I have a lot of fun, for example, with this blog, writing entries and being lifted by the comments you write. There’s no cost to me (except ego once in a while) and, hopefully, no cost to you. Having fun must be enjoying a freedom we allow ourselves, boundaries forgotten, simply gone for a while.

I had such a good time in emails with Santhan (Heaven Admin), Pablo, and Cheryl yesterday. Anyway, here’s the story — without going into too much detail. (more…)

Just Give Me God

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

I woke up this morning (September 12) with words like this going through my head. I don’t know whether this is something I heard somewhere once and remembered it, or if it somehow sprang up from me. I don’t know where it came from. It sounds like a country song to me. I’m not sure these are the exact words I woke up with, but they were something like this –

The title is Just Give Me God:

I wanted a beautiful wife. I got her. She left.

Just give me God.

I wanted diamonds. I got them. Plenty of them. I gave them to my wife.

Just give me God.

I wanted a beautiful home. I lived in it. It was empty.

Just give me God.

I wanted friends. I got them. True friends. False friends.

Just give me God.

I wanted fame. I got fame. What good was it.

Just give me God.

I wanted to travel. I traveled many lands. I became footsore.

Just give me God.

I wanted love. I got it. Never lasted long.

Just give me God.

All I want is God now. All I want is God now.

Just give me God.

Are these words from somewhere? Does anyone know?

Nursery Rhymes and Such

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

We repeat nursery rhymes without really listening to the words. We’re not paying attention to what the words mean at all:

London Bridge is falling down…

Down will come Baby, cradle and all.

I sang Rock-a-bye, Baby to my daughter, a song about a baby falling, and we smiled happily — especially at the ending! (more…)

The Word Sad

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

In writing classes, I was taught to choose Anglo-Saxon-based words over Latin-based words. Anglo-Saxon words seem more basic, closer to the core. Anglo-Saxon words are short and just are what they are. Nothing fancy about them.

Here are some examples of what I mean. (more…)

The Power of Metaphor

Russ Michael

Not only does Russ Michael spread Heavenletters™ like wildfire and endorse them at every turn, he also includes Heavenletters in his ebooks.

Certainly, I am already dedicated to Heavenletters, yet every time I read what Michael says about Heavenletters, I am bowled over and want to subscribe! Michael truly exemplifies Oneness. He sees no separation. Heavenletters are his to reveal to the world.

I also would like to mention that it was Michael who introduced the Greek, German, and Romanian publishers to Heavenletters. He wrote to the publishers and strongly suggested that they publish Heavenletters™, Love Letters from God, Book One, and Panos Axiomakaris and Monica Visan did! Not only that, these two great publishers invited me to those three countries — treated me to the whole trip  — and also made it possible for me to meet (more…)

Alice in Wonderland

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Alice in wonderland

If I were setting up grammar and punctuation in the world, I would have variations of question marks and exclamation marks. I feel a need for some smaller-sized punctuation.

Here’s what I mean: Although the particular syntax of a sentence may have the structure of a question, it is not a real question. The only example I can think of this minute is, when said in a certain tone of voice, “Now, how do you like them apples?” I am not really asking a question, and it’s really not an exclamation either. It’s more subtle. Why couldn’t we have some new punctuation, something less wholehearted than the usual question and exclamation marks? (more…)

Learn by Doing

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

John Dewey was a beautiful resource for American education. The theme he went by was: “Learn by doing.”

Frankly, that seems to be the only way I learn. And by being shown, one on one, and by showing others. I have to be right in the middle of it in order to learn.

When it comes to computer skills, if someone can sit next to me and show me, and I can try it myself right then and there, I have a much better chance of an Aha moment than I do with even the best written instructions.

I also experience something else, another dimension of learning by doing. (more…)

The Great Grey-green, Greasy Limpopo River

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Did you read the Just So Stories when you were a child?

I must have because I remember the the rhythm of Rudyard Kipling’s words and, especially the Great Limpopo River. Who could forget the lilt of the “great grey-green greasy Limpopo River?” All these years, I have thought the Limpopo River was a made-up name, made for how the sound of it was like the running of a stream. And all this time, I thought the Kolokolo Bird was real.

Come to find out, (more…)

The Lilies of the Field

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

A line in a newsletter I read this morning, this very morning, Saturday, March 1, 2008, said something like “…such action required more nerve than he could have ever mustered by himself.?

This was a true article about a poor young man, a boy really, who had some kind of spiritual guides who visited him at night and told him he was going to do great things in the world such as build a railroad and become a millionaire. And, God bless the boy, he did!

This article made me think of several random things, and I am — surprise! — going to share them with you! (more…)
