The mystery of language

Friday, June 11th, 2010

I love words, and I think about them a lot. How did they ever get started? And all the different languages and the differences and similarities among them.  And rhyming words. Why is rhyming so much fun?

God’s Promise

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

In Heavenletter #3409, The World Is a Reflector,  http://www.heavenletters.org/the-world-is-a-reflector.html God tells us we are going to have a great insight that will open us up to a new way of looking at the world. It was true. At least I had an insight on that day. Early in the morning actually. (more…)

Effendi at the Sufi House is a magical storyteller.  (more…)

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

I have had the feeling that Effendi knows what is in everyone’s heart. He reads hearts. When he talks to me individually in the group, it’s as if I had asked him a question, and he is answering it. (more…)

Samples of Right Brain Performance

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

The other day I saw Jonathan Kozol, author and education activist, on Book TV. I remember his name from my school teaching days.

The following quotation from his web site http://www.learntoquestion.com/seevak/groups/2002/sites/kozol/Seevak02/html/edad-open.htm will give you an idea of where (more…)

Great Quotations

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

In junior high school, I started notebooks of quotations I liked, sentences and paragraphs that meant a lot to me. I didn’t keep up with these notebooks, but I often started them. Still, the fact that I started collecting quotations tells me now how much words of wisdom meant to me even back then. Those notebooks are long gone, and I cannot recall a single one of the quotations. (more…)
