Metaphors

Monday, January 30th, 2012

When I used to write fiction and poetry, I would strive for metaphors. My thinking would be something like this: “I need a good metaphor here.”

Then I would try and try to think of a metaphor. Sometimes I was successful, sometimes not. I’m speaking of hours and hours and maybe days and days where I’d work hard, trying to capture the just right metaphor. I remember staying up until three in the morning one night without success.

In Godwriting™, from the very beginning, metaphors pop up at will. (more…)

What is new - Heavenletters™ or us?

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

cosmic_loveletter2.jpg

Long time Heaven Subscriber, Chuck Gebhardt, M.D., wrote:  “I continue to be amazed at the quality of all the new daily Heavenletters™. There is always new ground being broken.”

I have often wondered: Are Heavenletters™ breaking new ground?  Is God telling us something new? (more…)

Lately a lot of sadness

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

Lately, almost everything makes me sad. Happy thoughts make me sad. Sad thoughts make me sad. Maybe it is the sense that everything is momentary is what is making me sad. Everything is fleeting. Except for God, that is.

Although sadness has been capturing me a lot, there is, as God has said, a river of joy running through it. (more…)

So far, no blog police

Saturday, June 18th, 2011

In one of the newsletters or ezines that regularly publish Heavenletters, I came across a blog by someone (whose name I forget) who wrote proudly something like this:

“People all over the world write in and ask me how I am able to post a great blog entry every week. They wonder where I get my ideas from, and how I can get so many ideas, and I tell them…”

Of course, I’ve (more…)

Do you remember

Saturday, April 16th, 2011

Do you remember Heavenletter #3088 Create Yourself, May 9, 2009? In this Heavenletter, God told us to give ourselves an American Indian name, a very uplifting one, and to start looking at ourselves in a new light. God is always telling us to (more…)

Loveliest of Trees, the Cherry Now by A. E. Housman

This is one of my favorite poems. This poem, among many, was in the 7th grade Roberts linguistic book I was lucky enough to use when I taught school. It’s a favorite because I can still kinda hear the children reading it aloud, and then, later, their going up to the front of the room and reciting it for the whole class from memory. We never tired of it. (more…)

Again God uses a word I don’t know

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

In a recently-written Heavenletter, again a word came up that I absolutely have no knowledge or recollection of.

God wrote: “I play the flute, and you the bandolino.” (more…)

I love surprises

Friday, December 31st, 2010

I was on the phone with a local Godwriter, and he said: “Be ready in thirty minutes, and I’ll pick you up. There’s someone at Revelations I want you to meet.”

That is like poetry, isn’t it, not everything filled in. I love that.

No questions asked, and I was ready in thirty minutes, and my friend whizzed me over to Revelations where I met (more…)

Colors of God’s kindness

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

God’s kindness and gentleness stand out for me.  I seem to be someone who needs sweet-talk, and God gives me that. He gives us that, and, of course, He gives much more. (more…)

The mystery of language

Friday, June 11th, 2010

I love words, and I think about them a lot. How did they ever get started? And all the different languages and the differences and similarities among them.  And rhyming words. Why is rhyming so much fun?

rose and nose (more…)
