Judgment is a biggie

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

How do we get away from judgment? There is only one answer I can think of and that is to love instead.  What if we did love everything, just love everything without trying — then there wouldn’t be room for judgment.

Yesterday, the question came up: When we don’t favor something, are we judging? When is something personal preference, and when is it judging?

When we wouldn’t want to do (more…)

Spiritual Traveler

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Sally and Randy from Illinois loaned me a book called Coming Back to Earth by Gil Lock.

I had never heard of the author who was well-known as the Central Park Guru in the 1960’s. He would sit in the park day after day for years, rain or shine, meditating, and he radiated something that brought many people who were happy to sit in his presence and gaze upon him. Eventually, many, just like him, dropped out of the world as we know it, and followed Gil Lock wherever he went.

Gil had been a Marine, gone to college, and became a wealthy businessman. Suddenly, (more…)

Things I would never want to tell you

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Why would I tell you about how I wasn’t able to connect to the internet and how I was in my usual tizzy, and that’s only one of the difficulties yesterday that I would never want to tell you.

I am reminded of the movie Eastern Promises in which the Russian Mafia boss says: “You have to watch out for the little things. It’s the little things that can trip you up,” because I knew the difficulty with the internet was the little plug that fits into the computer.

The (more…)

God’s Words

Monday, August 18th, 2008

God in Heavenletters™ works on us on the subtle levels, do you agree? Somehow He brings us higher without giving us a list of things to do. One of His great successes, it seems to me, is how He motivates us to want to go higher and be closer to Him.

In the personal Godwriting™ that He and I do, you may remember He told me to (more…)

Jars of Honey

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Continuing along on the Universal Theme from yesterday’s blog, most of the time I’m delighted to be simple-minded. Actually, a lot of the time, I am proud of it!

Then there are times I would like to be more conceptual, see the bigger picture, and express myself more comprehensively as I see so many other people do. This is one of those times.

I know it’s unwise to compare one’s self with anyone, favorably or unfavorably. Truly, I am grateful to be who I am and as I am, and yet… (more…)

A Universal Theme

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

I just love wonderful quotations. Do you too?

My friend Jeff Keller’s recent newsletter http://www.YourSpiritualJourney.net included a quote from Rumi. So simple, so profound, and powerful in only six words. I will share the quote with you in just a moment, but first I would like to tell you that soon after, I happened to glance at a beginning page in David Hawkins’ Power vs. Force which states the same theme. Sequel to I’d Rather Be Sad than Angry

Friday, August 15th, 2008

My daughter Lauren came over my place after she had calmed down Iowa Telephone and won them over to disconnecting our phones, and she gave me a sweet lecture about being kind to everyone.

It’s not like I don’t KNOW.

Soon after that, I found a well-worn and folded yellow slip of paper at the bottom of my book bag. I don’t remember ever seeing this paper before, and I don’t know where it came from. I’m not saying it magically appeared. I’m saying (more…)

I’d Rather Be Sad than Angry

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

When is good customer service going to come back?

For the past nine months or so, after every big storm, snow storm or electrical storm, my telephone has been going out. No dial tone.

Iowa Telecom always says the problem is interior wiring. They would gladly fix it for a huge hourly sum.

I would question them about it. “Don’t you think it’s kind of strange that it’s my inside wiring that goes out after every storm?” (more…)

Awakening Love

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

God in Heavenletters™ says we are made of love. He says that love is what we are. I believe he also says that love is Who we are.

A lot of the time, however, my heart feels barren of love, often for no reason, sometimes because someone makes a remark I don’t like or looks at me in a funny way, or a stranger knocks into me and doesn’t say she’s sorry, or because of any number of little things that happen and the little thoughts I have — so unbefitting for someone who wants to serve God.

The good thing about these times is that (more…)

The Word Sad

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

In writing classes, I was taught to choose Anglo-Saxon-based words over Latin-based words. Anglo-Saxon words seem more basic, closer to the core. Anglo-Saxon words are short and just are what they are. Nothing fancy about them.

Here are some examples of what I mean. (more…)
